Stromness comes alive this May as the Orkney Folk Festival 2026 returns from 21 to 24 May, bringing four days of music, community spirit and island celebration to Orkney.

The 43rd Orkney Folk Festival brings together 52 acts from Orkney, Scotland, Ireland, England, Finland, Canada and the USA. The 2026 programme includes 53 events across the islands, celebrating both traditional and contemporary folk music. Festivalgoers can look forward to:

One of the most direct routes is the ferry from Scrabster to Stromness. You can also fly into Kirkwall Airport and continue by road. The Stromness Hotel is conveniently located by the Pierhead.
