The Stromness Hotel is in a beautiful location, right on the waterfront. It is within walking distance to the ferry, and most restaurants and pubs. The staff interacted well before and during our stay. Very nice and professional. The hotel is undergoing some restoration; painting and other maintenance is occurring, but we never heard any noise from the workers. None whatsoever. You will be in a clean room, but it may be dated, depending on which room you are assigned. If you are looking for a top-tier hotel, this is not it, but it will soon be. If you are looking for a solid room for the price right now, this is the place.
